Our Story

Although Dot Cup was technically founded by one person, it wouldn't have happened without the support, brilliance, skills, encouragement, advice, expertise, and love of probably 100 people. Dot is OUR collective story. I'm just the one typing it.

My name is Betsy, and I was introduced to (and fell in love with) the menstrual cup back in 2011. I'll never forget my first try - my roommate at the time literally had to google "How to remove a menstrual cup" and yell directions from the hallway! After a couple of months getting the hang of it, I was hooked. Around the same time I was also introduced to the plight of many women and girls around the world without access to basic menstrual care products. It stirred something inside me. The problem and its solution quite literally collided in my mind, heart, and hands, and the idea for a 1-for-1 menstrual cup company was born. Life got in the way though, and it wasn't until five years later that (while on maternity leave!) I decided to get serious about this dream I couldn't shake. I started researching the top medical-grade silicone manufacturers, sketching logos, combing through menstrual cup reviews and making lists of characteristics that would engineer the very best menstrual cup on the market, and here we are.
